Nonfiction Narration


Narrative nonfiction is writing that tells a true-life story. A special type of narrative nonfiction is 'the autobiographical narrative. An autobiographical narrative allows you to present a true story about your life, from your perspective. By sharing a personal experience, you can give readers some insights into who you are and perhaps into who they are, too.

Nonfiction Narrative: Autobiographical Narrative

An effective narrative nonfiction essay has these characteristics:
- An engaging story that holds readers attention.     
- A well-developed conflict, or problem to be solved, that shows why a situation created a problem.
- A resolution, the outcome of the conflict, that shows how the problem was solved.
- A range of literary strategies and devices, such as dialogue and suspense that can make your narrative stand out and enhance the plot.
- A specific mood, or emotion, that the writing conveys.
- A unique tone, or attitude toward the subject.
- Sensory details, details that appeal to the five senses of taste, touch, sight, sound, and smell.
- Effective  sentence structure and correct spelling, grammar, and usage.

An autobiographical narrative also includes:

- Theme
