As Simple As It Seems

A Memory Recovered

Kimberly, a tall blonde who is a 17 years old, lives with her 

father, George, in a small town in Connecticut. They were a not 

quite ordinary family.  Her mom died when she was five.  

Kimberly and Kayla are best friends since they were in middle 

school. Kayla was the one who introduced Jake to Kimberly, 

who is currently her boyfriend. 

One night Kim sneaked out with Kayla to a party, but on their 

way, the road got difficult, very slippery and they had to stop, 

but they didn’t notice they were on the wrong side.  A rushed 

truck crashed and this accident caused Kim to lose her memory. 

For Kim’s bad luck, plans went wrong, and she got kidnapped. 

For some reason, her best friend had disappeared. 

The next day, Kim wakes up confused. “Where am I?” she asks. 

A strange voice answered: “Shh we’ve got to make a call”.

She wasn’t able to see the face of the person clearly, but all she 

could see was 5 masked guys. She tried to move but she didn’t 

notice she was tied up. She kept calmed… The phone was 

answered and a quite familiar voice transmitted. 

“Hello?”

“We got her” said one of the masked guys.

“Got who?”

“Your daughter; if you want to see her again you better give us 

what we want”.

This made Kim feel weird and then she understood that she 

was kidnapped and her father, who she quite couldn’t 

remember, was on the other line.

“What do you want?”

“Money” 

“How much?” 

“A million dollars; you’ve got a week”. He hung up. All of a 

sudden, Kim felt scared. All she could remember was her name 

and when she got hit last night, but nothing more. 

Three days pass, the guys haven’t received their money. She 

kept her calmness, they were treating her quite well, and even 

though she couldn’t see their faces, she was a little scared of 

what could happen if they didn’t receive the money. Hours 

later, they received it. They were all happy. They untied Kim 

and felt a relief. Then, they unmasked themselves and told her 

that they received the money. All of a sudden, she starts to 

recover her memory, and recognizes her boyfriend. 

The next day they receive a call. 

“Where’s Kim?”…

“I’m fine”

“Why aren’t you back?” She hangs up. 

Two weeks earlier, she made a plan she already had in mind, 

but she made the decision to do it now. She planned her 

kidnaping to aim revenge to her father, who is an alcoholic man 

who abuses her. She wanted his money to run away. Her 

boyfriend decided to help her with his friends. Kayla just drove 

her because she didn’t want to be involved. Kayla had hate 

toward Kim’s father, he once tried to abuse her, but she didn’t 

let him. 

Now that she’s decided to move on and leaver her life behind, 

she starts to remember her father’s not worrying about her and 

she felt pity toward him. Moments later, she got a call saying 

that her father was dead. He was killed by Kayla, who got 

arrested three weeks later.
